Shabad (Ang 39-40 of SGGS) : Mere satgura mai tujh bin awar na koi
hum moorakh mugadh sharnaagati kar kirpa milay har soi |
(O my True Guru, without You I have no other at all.
I am foolish and ignorant; I seek Your Sanctuary. Please be Merciful and unite me with the Lord.)
mai man than birahu ath agalaa kio preetham milai ghar aae |
(Within my mind and body is the intense pain of separation; how can my Beloved come to meet me in my home?)
jaa dhaekhaa prabh aapanaa prabh dhaekhiai dhukh jaae |
(When I see my God, seeing God Himself, my pain is taken away.)
jaae pushhaa thin sajanaa prabh kith bidhh milai milaae ||1||
(I go and ask my friends, ""How can I meet and merge with God?"")
sathigur dhaathaa har naam kaa prabh aap milaavai soe |
(The True Guru is the Giver of the Name of the Lord. God Himself causes us to meet Him.)
sathigur har prabh bujhiaa gur jaevadd avar n koe |
(The True Guru understands the Lord God. There is no other as Great as the Guru.)
ho gur saranaaee dtehi pavaa kar dhaeiaa maelae prabh soe ||2||
(I have come and collapsed in the Guru's Sanctuary. In His Kindness, He has united me with God.)
manehat(h) kinai n paaeiaa kar oupaav sakee sabh koe |
(No one has found Him by stubborn-mindedness. All have grown weary of the effort.)
sehas siaanap kar rehae man korai ra(n)g n hoe |
(Thousands of clever mental tricks have been tried, but still, the raw and undisciplined mind does not absorb the Color of the Lord's Love.)
koorr kapatt kinai n paaeiou jo beejai khaavai soe ||3||
(By falsehood and deception, none have found Him. Whatever you plant, you shall eat.)
sabhanaa thaeree aas prabh sabh jeea thaerae thoo(n) raas |
(O God, You are the Hope of all. All beings are Yours; You are the Wealth of all.)
prabh thudhhahu khaalee ko nehee dhar guramukhaa no saabaas |
(O God, You are the Hope of all. All beings are Yours; You are the Wealth of all.)
bikh bhoujal ddubadhae kadt lai jan naanak kee aradhaas ||4||
(In this terrifying world-ocean of poison, people are drowning in their bad karmas & sorrows, please lift them up and save them! This is (Lord's servant) Nanak's humble prayer.)
