(If the Lord bestows His Glance of Grace, then one remembers Him in meditation.)
aatamaa dhravai rahai liv lai |
(The soul is softened, and he remains absorbed in the Lord's Love.)
aatamaa paraatamaa eko karai |
(His soul and the Supreme Soul become one.)
a(n)tar kee dhubidhaa a(n)tar marai ||
(The duality of the inner mind is overcome.)
gur parasaadhee paiaa jai |
(By Guru's Grace, God is found.)
har siau chit laagai fir kaal na khai ||
(One's consciousness is attached to the Lord, and so Death does not devour him.)
sach simariaai hovai paragaas |
(Remembering the True Lord in meditation, one is enlightened.)
taa te bikhiaa meh rahai udhaas |
(Then, in the midst of Maya, he remains detached.)
satigur kee aaisee vaddiaaiee |
(Such is the Glory of the True Guru;)
putr kalatr viche gat paiee ||
(in the midst of children and spouses, they attain emancipation.)
aaisee sevak sevaa karai |
(Such is the service which the Lord's servant performs,)
jis kaa jeeau tis aagai dharai |
(that he dedicates his soul to the Lord, to whom it belongs.)
saahib bhaavai so paravaan |
(One who is pleasing to the Lord and Master is acceptable.)
so sevak dharageh paavai maan ||
(Such a servant obtains honor in the Court of the Lord.)
satigur kee moorat hiradhai vasaae |
(He enshrines the image of the True Guru in his heart.)
jo ichhai soiee fal paae |
(He obtains the rewards which he desires.)
saachaa saahib kirapaa karai |
(The True Lord and Master grants His Grace;)
so sevak jam te kaisaa ddarai ||
(how can such a servant be afraid of death?)
bhanat naanak kare veechaar |
(Prays Nanak, practice contemplation,)
saachee baanee siau dhare piaar |
(and enshrine love for the True Word of His Bani.)
taa ko paavai mokh dhuaar |
(Then, you shall find the Gate of Salvation.)
jap tap sabh ih sabadh hai saar ||
(This Shabad is the most excellent of all chanting and austere meditations.)
