(O Lord of all worlds: reveal to me, even for an instant, the Blessed Vision of Your Darshan.)

kup bhario jaise dadira kachh des bides na bujh |
(The frog in the deep well knows nothing of its own country or other lands;)

aise mera man bikhia bimohia kachh ara par na sujh |
(just so, my mind, infatuated with corruption, understands nothing about this world or the next.)

malin bhai mat madhva teri gat lakhi na jae |
(My intellect is polluted; I cannot understand Your state, O Lord.)

karahu kirpa bharam chuki mai sumat deh samjhae |
(Take pity on me, dispel my doubts, and teach me true wisdom.)

jogisar pavahi nahi tua gun kathan apar |
(Even the great Yogis cannot describe Your Glorious Virtues; they are beyond words.)

parem bhagat kai karnai kaho Ravidas chamar |

Shabad (Ang 39-40 of SGGS)  : Mere satgura mai tujh bin awar na koi
    hum moorakh mugadh sharnaagati kar kirpa milay har soi |
(O my True Guru, without You I have no other at all.
    I am foolish and ignorant; I seek Your Sanctuary. Please be Merciful and unite me with the Lord.)


mai man than birahu ath agalaa kio preetham milai ghar aae |
(Within my mind and body is the intense pain of separation; how can my Beloved come to meet me in my home?)

jaa dhaekhaa prabh aapanaa prabh dhaekhiai dhukh jaae |
(When I see my God, seeing God Himself, my pain is taken away.)

jaae pushhaa thin sajanaa prabh kith bidhh milai milaae ||1||
(I go and ask my friends, ""How can I meet and merge with God?"")


sathigur dhaathaa har naam kaa prabh aap milaavai soe |
(The True Guru is the Giver of the Name of the Lord. God Himself causes us to meet Him.)

sathigur har prabh bujhiaa gur jaevadd avar n koe |
(The True Guru understands the Lord God. There is no other as Great as the Guru.)

ho gur saranaaee dtehi pavaa kar dhaeiaa maelae prabh soe ||2||
(I have come and collapsed in the Guru's Sanctuary. In His Kindness, He has united me with God.)


manehat(h) kinai n paaeiaa kar oupaav sakee sabh koe |
(No one has found Him by stubborn-mindedness. All have grown weary of the effort.)

sehas siaanap kar rehae man korai ra(n)g n hoe |
(Thousands of clever mental tricks have been tried, but still, the raw and undisciplined mind does not absorb the Color of the Lord's Love.)

koorr kapatt kinai n paaeiou jo beejai khaavai soe ||3||
(By falsehood and deception, none have found Him. Whatever you plant, you shall eat.)


sabhanaa thaeree aas prabh sabh jeea thaerae thoo(n) raas |
(O God, You are the Hope of all. All beings are Yours; You are the Wealth of all.)

prabh thudhhahu khaalee ko nehee dhar guramukhaa no saabaas |
(O God, You are the Hope of all. All beings are Yours; You are the Wealth of all.)

bikh bhoujal ddubadhae kadt lai jan naanak kee aradhaas ||4||
(In this terrifying world-ocean of poison, people are drowning in their bad karmas & sorrows, please lift them up and save them! This is (Lord's servant) Nanak's humble prayer.)

(The Lord gives whatever is asked from Him.)

Chatur disa kino bal apna, sir upar kar dhareyo
    Kirpa katakh avalokan kino, das ka dukh bidaryo
(He has spread His power in the four directions, and has put His hand on my head. 
Looking with gracious eyes, He has removed the pain of His servant.)

Harijan rakhe Guru Govind, rakhe Guru Govind
    Kanth lae avguna sab mete, dyal purakh bakshind
(Master, who is the Lord, protects His people Himself. 
Removing all the bad qualities, the Compassionate and Forgiving One embraces (me).)

Jo mange Thakur apne te, soi soi deve
    Nanak das mukh te jo bole, iha uha sach hove 
(The Lord gives whatever is asked from Him. 
Whatever Nanak, the servant of the Lord, speaks from His mouth becomes true here and hereafter.)

Tum maat pitaa hum baarik tere
    Tumhri kirpa mein sukh ghanere
(You are our mother and father, we are your children.)
    (Contained within your kirpa (hukam and blessings), there is so much contentment and joy.)

Tu thakur tum pe ardhaas 
    jiyo pind sab teri raas
(You are our Lord and Master; to You, I offer this prayer.)
    (This body and soul are all Your property.)    

Koyi na jaaNe tumhra ant
    Ooche te uncha bhagawant
(No one knows Your limits.)
    (O Highest of the High, Most Generous God,)

Saghal samagri tumhre sutradhaari
    Tum te hoye so aagiyakaari
(the whole creation is strung on Your thread.)
    (That which has come from You is under Your Command.)

Tumhri gat mit tum hi jaani
  Naanak daas sadaa qurbani
(You alone know Your state and extent.)
    (Nanak, Your devotee, is forever a sacrifice.)

jogi andir jogia
(Among Yogis, You are the Yogi;)

tu bhogi andir bhogia
(among pleasure seekers, You are the Pleasure Seeker.)

tera aant na paaya surig mach payal jio |
(Your limits are not known to any of the beings in the heavens, in this world, or in the nether regions of the underworld.)

tujh sansar uupaya
(You created the world,)

sire siir thande laaya
(and assigned tasks to one and all.)

veekhe kita aapna kar kudrat paasa daal jio |
(You watch over Your Creation, and through Your All-powerful Creative Potency, You cast the dice.)

pargat pahare japda
(You are manifest in the Expanse of Your Workshop.)

sabh naave no partapda
(Everyone longs for Your Name,)

satguru bajh na payo sabh mohi maya jaal jio |
{but without the Guru, no one finds You. All are enticed and trapped by 'Maya Jaal' (illusions / mirage)}.

satgur ko baal jaye
(I am a sacrifice to the True Guru.)

jit mile param gaat payiye
(Meeting Him, the supreme status is obtained.)

sur nar mun jan lochde so satgur diya bujhiye jio |
(The angelic beings and the silent sages long for Him; the True Guru has given me this understanding.)

saatsangat kaisi janiye
(How is the Society of the Saints to be known?)

jithe eeko naam vakhniye
(There, the Name of the One Lord is chanted.)

eeko naam hukam hai nanak satgur diya bujhiye jio |
(The One Name is the Lord's Command; O Nanak, the True Guru has given me this understanding.)
